Let’s play ball – Youth Baseball Registration
Published on February 7, 2017
It is almost that time of the year. The time to enjoy freshly cut grass, newly lined fields and the excitement of playing baseball or softball. Parks & Recreation has opportunities for youth and the young-at-heart to play “America’s Pastime” this spring.
In-person Youth Baseball and Softball registration starts on Saturday, February 18 and continues the next two Saturdays at your local park or recreation center. The regular season begins in late April and runs approximately eight weeks. Not sure where your children are zoned to play? Use our League Locator or call us at (256) 564-8026.
The recreation baseball program is for children ages 5-12 years old. For older youth, the City chooses to run our programs in conjunction with Babe Ruth Baseball Incorporated. Junior Babe Ruth is for ages 13-15 years old and Senior Babe Ruth is for ages 16-18 years old. Follow the Huntsville Babe Ruth League on Facebook for updates.
Youth softball is for ages 5 through 18. For information regarding our youth softball program, contact Brian Wilson at (256) 883-3290 or by e-mail at brian.wilson@huntsvilleal.gov.
If you are looking to continuing playing past the age of 18, Parks & Recreation offers Adult Softball at the Metro Kiwanis Sportsplex. The spring season has four league options: Men’s, Women’s, Co-Ed and Sunday that all consist of 10 games during the season and a double elimination tournament. For more information, visit the Adult Softball League page.
