Huntsville Police hold graduation ceremony for 71st academy session

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is proud to welcome two new officers who are ready to serve and protect the community after successfully meeting the rigorous training standards of the Huntsville Police Academy.
Police Chief Kirk Giles expressed his pride in the graduates, highlighting their commitment and resilience throughout the academy.
“Today, we honor two individuals who have demonstrated the dedication, integrity and courage required to wear this badge,” Chief Giles said. “Their journey to this moment was not easy, but their hard work and passion for public service are evident. They are joining an exceptional team and I look forward to seeing them grow in their careers.”
Mayor Tommy Battle emphasized the importance of these graduates in continuing the City’s mission to ensure a safe and thriving Huntsville.
“Huntsville’s future depends on brave men and women who answer the call to serve,” Mayor Battle said. “We are grateful for their dedication and proud of their commitment to safeguarding our city. Congratulations to these graduates and their families on this significant milestone.”
As the department celebrates its recent graduates, HPD is also looking ahead. Applications are open for the 73rd session of the Huntsville Police Academy, which will begin training in 2025. Individuals with a passion for serving their community are encouraged to apply before the deadline on Feb. 28, 2025, at 6 p.m.
