Land Trust of North Alabama Guided Hike

Historic Old Railroad Bed Trail, Monte Sano Nature Preserve- Guided Hike

(2.5 miles / 3 hours / Moderate to difficult)

The Old Railroad Bed Trail follows the same path as the steam locomotive that traveled from the Huntsville Depot to the Monte Sano Hotel from 1888 until 1896.  Enjoy a bit of Huntsville’s past with hike leader David Young. This trail is one of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s first 500 projects.

Directions: Take Pratt Avenue to Bankhead Parkway, cross Tollgate Road.  Land Trust’s hiker’s parking lot is ½ mile further on right. Meet at the information kiosk.
